June 8 Race Report

SHAKESPEARE, ONTARIO (June 10, 2008)- The Lucas Oil/ Dixie Chopper Dragster team took a second round finish at the Sarnia/Lambton Shootout. The close racing in Grand Bend Motorplex this past weekend saw driver T.J. Schippling narrowly miss the finish line by four thousandths of a second.

Schippling earned the starting line advantage in round one and round two. T.J. was better by .013 in the second round but the car could not run on the index and it allowed his opponent to sneak by.

“It was excellent to get our season started,” said Schippling. “I’m really excited about how this team performed through the very warm and humid conditions.”

Schippling qualified in the sixth position. “Our car was consistent throughout the weekend. The heat was tough on the track but we adjusted for it and it worked well.”

Starting in the second round on Saturday, Schippling posted reaction times that were between .013 and .018 through five rounds of qualifying and eliminations.

“I felt right at home again behind the wheel of the Lucas Oil/ Dixie Chopper Dragster. I’m very confident and comfortable in this car our team has built.”

Eliminations were prematurely ended after the third round as rain once again hit the race track.
