Schippling, Morgan Near Perfect Weekend

SHAKESPEARE, ONTARIO (June 16, 2008)- Schippling Motorsports drivers T.J. Schippling and Dan Morgan teamed up for a near perfect weekend at Grand Bend Motorplex. Driving two dragsters in Top Dragster the Lucas Oil/ Dixie Chopper team earned Schippling a runner-up finish and Morgan a semifinal finish.

“We almost capped off the perfect weekend,” Schippling said after his final round race.

Schippling was qualified third from the rescheduled May 18 race. Morgan started from the seventh position. Schippling eliminated the driver right behind him in points in the opening round. Morgan’s first two rounds were huge as he beat the points leader first and then the 2006 Champion next.

That set up a semifinal match up between the two teammates. Morgan jumped the gun early and fouled by a mere two thousandths of a second. Morgan went on to run right on his index, a 7.690 second E.T. Schippling had a ten thousandths reaction time but the car slowed by three hundredths.

“It was bittersweet to see Dan’s red light come on. I was happy I won but I knew how well he was running and figured him as the favorite in that race. Dan was driving really well and had some big races all day.”

In the finals Schippling slowed again. After both drivers left the starting line four thousandths apart from each other, Schippling fell off another four hundredths and settled for a runner-up finish.

“I really want to thank Jim, Mitch, and Heather Elliot for this opportunity to race another dragster. I’m glad we were so successful but most importantly it was a lot of fun racing with Mitch and Heather this weekend.

“At the beginning of the weekend I dedicated this race to my father Thom for Father’s Day and for everything he does for me. It was great to have him at the track and I’m glad we did so well for him.”
